God on the Ground:
In this documentary I will be investigating Western man's need to conquer and control nature. I use the term "God," here as Joseph Campbell did - "The ultimate word in our language for that which is transcendent, is God."

Nature, to me, is a place where one can experience transcendence. In the Peace Corps in 1995 I experienced the power of nature after spending weeks at a time in the Amazon jungle. There is something to deep nature I believe is intentionally is drown out by the efforts of modern man. There is a deep, knowing silence that is not allowed to exist here in the United States. I want to know why. Tree is at least partially communal. I want to investigate what about Joshua Tree is "God-like" and I want to find more places in this country where this feeling exists.
